December Eco-Bulletin

December is a time to connect with friends and family and reflect on the past year! This year has been full of the unexpected, but even in these uncertain times, ECOSLO has continued to work for you on the programs and environmental issues you care about. We asked out team members to share their favorite moments from 2021 as we take a moment to remember all we have accomplished, and plan for the new year! So from our family to yours, Happy Holidays!

We hope you can get involved and stay connected with your local environmental center - ECOSLO!

The ECOSLO Team

"My time at ECOSLO has had a wonderful impact on my life. I went from an Intern to an AmeriCorps member to a Staff member. One of my favorite memories throughout all of it was planting trees at Los Verdes Park II - the team of volunteers and support from the community was incredible. We had a great morning outdoors, got 15 trees in the ground, and celebrated with lots of food after!" - Hannah, Communications Assistant

"Looking back at 2021, I am so proud of how far the SLO County Green Business Program has come. Even though this past year was a challenging one for our local businesses, I am so pleased with how resilient they are and how motivated they are in pursuing sustainable business practices. As we move into 2022, I am so excited to see what is in store for us!" - Lauren, Program Assistant

"Over the past year here at ECOSLO, I have had so many wonderful and impactful experiences from our organizing work with our partners across SLO County on issues like the Oceano Dunes, to attending urban tree plantings with community members in SLO City. I am truly grateful to be a part of this organization and am truly excited for what the next year has in store for us." - Grant, Community Organizer

"My favorite moments with ECOSLO this year has been being able to work with so many businesses that are passionate about taking steps to become environmentally sustainable." - Evelyn, Sustainability Coordinator

"One moment with ECOSLO that never gets old is watching bags and bags full of trash hauled away from Pirates Cove. Watching the direct impact that ECOSLO and our volunteers have made on the natural environment has been so inspiring. Over the past few months at ECOSLO, I have made great connections in the community. It has been such a joy to meet new faces while attending a cleanup or checking on trees we have planted. I look forward to making more meaningful connections in the new year!" - Allie, AmeriCorps VIP Member 2021-2022

"My favorite moments with ECOSLO have surrounded planning the different events and fundraisers we put on throughout the year. We hosted the ECOSLO Open house in July, a silent auction and raffle in August, the Creeks to Coast Cleanup in September, and then an Eco Talk to end Creeks to Coast. None of this could have been done without our wonderful volunteers and staff who I always have a wonderful time working with!" - Jamie, Office Manager & Event Coordinator
