Internships are a vital part of ECOSLO and ideal for someone who wants to become familiar with working for non-profit organizations, gain experience in environmental work, and become involved in working within the San Luis Obispo community.
All internships are unpaid and last for two quarters.

Coastal Cleanup Day Conductor Intern
| Want to help plan an amazing community-wide beach, creek, and lake cleanup? ECOSLO is currently seeking 1 or 2 interns for Coastal Cleanup Day 2017! This role will be the main contact with CA Coastal Commission as well as local site captains for the 30+ cleanup locations on Coastal Cleanup Day, taking place Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 9am-noon. This is an exciting and fun event, and you will gain a great deal of program and event planning experience. The intern(s) will develop business sponsorship’s, advertising and media efforts, volunteer recruitment, and will assist in project management for this event. This role will also assist with smaller beach cleanups throughout the year.
Community Engagement Amplifier Intern
| ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern for engaging the community in participating in volunteer opportunities. This role will be the main contact between our volunteers who lead hikes in the City of San Luis Obispo and the main contacts for groups that volunteer for trash pick-up or trail maintenance within SLO County. Donor & Membership Master Intern
| ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern to assist with donor and membership management. This position will work heavily in our online database, Salesforce, and also help with small membership events and the monthly e-newsletter. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants membership and/or fundraising experience, and also learn database management which is essential to the nonprofit world.
Eco-Event Orchestrator Intern | ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern to assist with our upcoming event – our 45th anniversary celebration. This position will gain experience in event planning logistics, eco-friendly/zero-waste practices, marketing sponsor relations, and day-of logistics. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants event planning experience and/or fundraising experience.
Social Media Strategist Intern | Instagram, Facebook, Snap-chat – are you a pro or looking to develop your skills on various social media platforms? ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern for social media strategies. Help the local, environmental center of SLO (a.k.a ECOSLO) get the word our about advocacy efforts, educational docent-hikes, beach-cleanups, and more! The person in this role will generate a posting schedule and content to be shared on ECOSLO’s website, social media pages, and beyond. | ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern for telling the stories of the individuals of ECOSLO. These pieces will be used on media outlets, both online and in print. The other component of this role is the measuring of success with these communication channels.
Vigilant Earth Advocate Intern
| ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern for advocacy and education. This role will assist the ECOSLO Board’s Advocacy committee in researching current and prospective advocacy topics, writing articles regarding for general education and for ECOSLO’s stance on topics, and posting information, articles, resources, etc. to media outlets. This is an ideal position for someone with a communications and/or environmental protection focus who wants to become familiar with the advocacy side of a non-profit organization, gain experience in environmental work, and become involved working within the San Luis Obispo community.
