All internships are unpaid and last for two quarters (approximately 6 months).

Coastal Cleanup Day Conductor | Want to help plan an amazing community-wide beach, creek, and lake cleanup? ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern for Coastal Cleanup Day 2018! This role develops business sponsorship’s, organizes advertising and media efforts, recruits volunteers, and assists in coordinating the 30 cleanup sites. This is an ideal position for someone who is outgoing, desires event-planning experience, enjoys and wants to protect our coast and waterways, and someone who is detail-oriented. 9-month internship available January 2018 or 6-month internship available April 2018.
Community Engagement Amplifier | ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern for engaging the community in participating in volunteer opportunities. This role is a contact between our ECOSLO volunteers who lead hikes in the City of San Luis Obispo *or* a contact for monthly volunteers groups that take place at SLO County parks and beaches. This is an ideal position for someone who is outgoing, great at followup, enjoys volunteer events, and is detail-oriented. Additionally, this would be a good fit for someone who wants to become familiar with working with volunteers, expanding community engagement, and help grow the volunteer program for a non-profit organization. 6-month internship available at the start of each quarter.
Donor Developer | ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern to assist with donor and membership management. This positions assists the Executive Director in managing the donor database, as well as assisting in planning and executing donor events. This position will work heavily in our Salesforce database (training to be provided) and also with Mailchimp for newsletters, event invites, etc. This is a great opportunity to network, learn best practices in donor cultivation and follow up, build relationships, and learn the fundraising side of a nonprofit. 6-month internship available at the start of each quarter.
Eco-Event Orchestrator | This position assists with the annual anniversary fundraiser (spring) or the donor event (fall). Throughout the year this position plans Eco-Networking and Green Drinks events. This position will gain experience in event planning logistics, eco-friendly/zero-waste practices, marketing, sponsor relations, and day-of logistics. This is a great opportunity for event planning and/or fundraising experience. 6-month internship available starting Fall or Spring quarter.

Social Media Strategist | Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat – are you a pro or looking to develop your skills on various social media platforms? ECOSLO is currently seeking an intern for social media strategies. Help the local, environmental center of SLO (a.k.a ECOSLO) get the word out about advocacy efforts, educational docent-hikes, beach-cleanups, and more! The person in this role will generate a posting schedule and content to be shared on ECOSLO’s website, social media pages, and beyond. If you’re looking for social media and website experience, look no further than ECOSLO’s Social Media Strategist position! 6-month internship available at the start of each quarter.
Storytelling Wizard | Do you like capturing moments and telling stories? Then this is the perfect internship for you! We need you to capture and share the stories of board members, interns, volunteers, etc. These pieces will be used on media outlets, both online and in print. The other component of this role is the measuring of success with these communication channels. This is an ideal position for someone who wants to further their digital media and/or writing skills, and has a passion for getting to know individuals and telling their story. 6-month internship available starting Winter or Summer quarter.
Vigilant Earth Advocate | This role will assist the ECOSLO Advocacy team in researching current and prospective advocacy topics, writing articles regarding general education and for ECOSLO’s stance on topics, and posting information, articles, resources, etc. to media outlets. This is an ideal position for someone with a communications and/or environmental protection focus and wants to become familiar with the advocacy side of a non-profit organization, gain experience in environmental work, and become involved working within the San Luis Obispo County community. 6-month internship available at the start of each quarter.
